GROWTH WITH PURPOSE: INTEGRATION
February 3, 2020
Integration is key to growing your company with purpose. To achieve it, you need to assess where you are in your personal and professional lives.
Ask yourself: What is your relationship with your business, and what do you want it to be?
Then ask yourself: What is your relationship with those outside of your business (your spouse, children, friends, etc.) and what do you want it to be?
Then assess how you are integrating your time and energy across the board. Are you kicking ass? Or are you failing miserably?
If you're failing miserably, here's what to do:
Only do the things you are best in the world at doing.
If a task causes you stress, takes up a ton of time, or just frustrates you, delegate it to someone else. When you are operating at your best, you'll be more efficient, and have more time to spend with the people you care about outside of work.
Work on the business instead of in it.
Focus on " big picture" projects and trust your team to handle the day-to-day responsibilities. Your leadership ideally goes from tactical to strategic. That's pretty hard to do, but you need to be deliberate about it. Practice focus and time.
Prioritize your tasks.
I have a set of tasks I do every day or every week that are key to driving the business. If you have strong metrics that measure operational success in the business, your team members who are accountable to those metrics afford you the time to move the needle on the business.
The reality of being an entrepreneur is that it's hard to have the same schedule day-to-day when you're growing a business. And it's also hard to optimize your time. When you understand why you want to grow your business and how to integrate, you will grow your company with purpose.
